A New Jersey roller coaster is getting demolished following damages from Hurricane Sandy.

Six months after Hurricane Sandy slammed the East Coast, the Seaside Heights roller coaster is scheduled for demolition. Located next to the ocean in New Jersey, the ride was called ‘The Jet Star’.

The roller coaster toppled over during the storm and it has basically remained in the same spot on the shore, mangled and broken. Construction crews were initially going to work on removing it in April, nasty weather again came into play, postponing the plans.

The ride was an integral part of Jersey Shore’s boardwalk at Casino Pier. Demolition is expected to take only a few days.

Meanwhile, construction workers in Mantoloking, New Jersey are preparing to demolish the first 50 homes that were damaged following Hurricane Sandy.

The Mantoloking Mayor stated “Each and every one of those homes contains memories: birthday celebrations, weddings, a summer barbeque, a baby’s first steps. The list goes on and on.”
