A school cancels for 'good weather'.
During the snowy winter months, school cancellations are common.
But in an unusual twist, one school in Washington state recently sent a letter to parents, informing them of plans to cancel. The reason? It was supposed to be a gorgeous day.
The principal at Bellingham Christian School opted for a fun and certainly unique way for students to thoroughly enjoy the sunshine. He described the decision as a way to “promote positive school culture.”
Excerpts from the letter stated “We encourage the students to get outside and play. There are so many heavy things that go in our world, it’s nice to celebrate, relax and share joy with many. Since we’ve had no snow days, we are able to make this cancellation and still have more than enough state allocated hours for the year.”
The school referred to the cancellation as Sun Day. The principal asked students to take creative pictures of the activities they took part in outdoors. He asked them to bring those photos to school to showcase at an assembly.
What do you think of the school's idea?
