Solar Impulse has completed the first of five legs in its planned crossing of the United States, flying from San Francisco to Phoenix, Arizona in just over eighteen hours. The revolutionary plane, which runs on solar energy, is the prototype of a bigger aircraft its makers hope will be able to fly around the world in 2015, and uses no fuel whatsoever.
