Demonstrations against Iraq's Shia-led government, which first started in December, have spiralled in recent days across the country, with more than 200 people reported to have been killed. Attacks followed a deadly police raid on anti-government protesters in the town Hawija on Tuesday. In nearby Kirkuk where demonstrations were banned, tribal leaders have authorised their members to carry weapons amid the violence. Al Jazeera's Jane Arraf reports from Kirkuk.
