Check out the world's most congested cities.

If you’re confident that you live in the city with the most punishing traffic jams in the world, you’re only right if you live in Brussels.

Commuters in Antwerp also have it extra bad.

Three American cities - Los Angeles, Honolulu, and San Francisco - made the top ten.

According to the Traffic Scorecard compiled, analyzed, and reported by INRIX of Kirkland, Washington, that might be a good thing, signaling healing economies.

They noted finding correlations between growing employment opportunities and evidence of increased congestion on the roadways.

Cities lush with jobs like Los Angeles and Boston showed the greatest growth in car congestion.

So, hooray for that, but the not so fabulous news is that on average drivers in the US’s densest traffic areas spend an average of 42 hours a year mostly not moving. The estimated total gas consumption for idling on packed highways is 2.9 billion gallons.

The study doesn’t mention much about frustrated drivers, but the Audi Road Frustration Index can help you track them.

By analyzing tweets and driving conditions the site gives an hourly view of which city’s drivers are closest to the figurative edge.
