Gran Turismo 6 races into the media, The Evil Within unleashes new details, and Watch Dogs’ next-generation benefits uncovered, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!
Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. With the latest Gran Turismo roughly two and a half years old and the PlayStation 4 announced, racing fans around the world have eagerly waited for word on Polyphony Digital’s next release in the series, Gran Turismo 6. While no official announcement from Polyphony Digital has been made, less than a week after Gran Turismo 6 appeared on Newegg with a release date of November 28th, 2013, the reputable Italian online retailer, Multiplayer.com has also placed the unannounced release on their website with a release date of November 28th of this year. Providing no details besides “The best driving simulator returns to his brand-new edition for PS3.” curiosity is building regarding why such retailers are listing the unannounced release. Could we see an appearance during E3 2013? Chances seem to be high, but for those hoping to see its debut on the PlayStation 4, think again as we all know Gran Turismo 7 will be lucky to launch before 2018.
Bethesda’s upcoming survival horror, The Evil Within, was officially announced just last Friday, and as promised, Bethesda has revealed more information regarding the release today. Taking control of the detective protagonist, Sebastian, gamers will join his partner Joseph and a female detective referred to as ‘Kid’. The viewpoint of the game will lie over Sebastian’s shoulder as gamers progress through the theatrical and cinematic aspects focused on by the development team at Bethesda. With stealth playing a crucial role within the game, sneaking and crouching will be essential when progressing through monster-infected areas of the game. Appropriate weapons will be provided throughout the gamer’s journey, but limited ammunition will be given forcing the gamer to make each and every bullet worth it. Shinji Mikami, creator of the Resident Evil franchise and lead on The Evil Within, seeks to create the scariest video game to release in quite some time and promises to provide gamers with an experience they are sure to remember.
Wrapping up Nick’s Gaming View, Jonathan Morin, creative director of Ubisoft’s upcoming, Watch Dogs, has spoken out on the advantages PlayStation 4’s high-powered hardware will be able to provide over that of the current PlayStation and Xbox, “expect more AI behaviors, more realistic consequences to your actions and an overall improvement in visuals realization. Our team has been working on this very complex ecosystem for more than four years now; this is what is required to build such an intricate set of AI systems.” Considering Watch Dogs is being designed on both current and next generation consoles simultaneously, I am excited to see the difference unfold once the release hits store shelves for all platforms, but as with every new generation of consoles, I don’t expect to see the next PlayStation and Xbox fully utilized for at least a few years.
