Number 5. Charles Glover slapped a Tennessee congressman after some verbal sparring between the two on the floor of the House of Representatives. They were disputing land Glover planned to sell to the government.
Number 4. An elaborate luncheon complete with press coverage and political glitterati was arranged to smooth things out between two congressmen. Each of them gave lengthy speeches and cordially shook on their newfound peace.
Number 3. The electric company took out an ad reminding people moving to order their electricity in advance. I doubt you'd see that flavor of artwork in ads today.
Number 2. Magistrate Murphy was dumbfounded when he was asked to order a woman to stop talking. He offered a lengthy speech on the impossibility of the feat and then recommended the inquirer to try a higher court.
