Kobe Bryant is slated for the bench following his surgery.
LA Lakers star Kobe Bryant recently tore his Achilles’ tendon during a game against the Golden State Warriors.
Directly after the injury, he hobbled to take his free throws and sunk them both, successfully tying up the game. The 34-year-old went through surgery to repair his foot, but he will not be able to play for some time.
Bryant will be stuck on the bench for the next 6 to 9 months as he recovers. The severity of the injury could mean the end of his career. But Bryant won’t stop fighting.
In a Facebook post, the athlete states “All the training and sacrifice just flew out the window with one step that I’ve done millions of times! The frustration is unbearable. The anger is rage. One day, the beginning of a new career journey will commence. Today is NOT that day.”
Bryant has played for the Lakers since 1996. During that time, his team won five NBA championships.
