For hundreds of years shipbuilders the port town of Mandvi in western India have constructed huge wooden cargo boats used to ferry goods to the Middle East and Africa. But following a string of attacks on the vessels by Somali pirates, tough anti-piracy regulations are restricting access to lucrative trading destinations in the Gulf of Aden leaving Mandvi’s shipbuilding and trade industries struggling to stay afloat.
