Alpacas are guarding baby lambs on a UK farm.

Alpacas are seemingly cute, easy going creatures. Would you trust them to guard someone?

A group of alpacas in Berkshire, United Kingdom has an important job.

Four alpacas are stationed at a farm for the sole purpose of protecting the baby lambs.

Serving as an animal security team, Cloud, Nimbus, Storm and Cirrus were loaned to the farm owners from a local herd. The five-foot tall creatures keep an eye out for foxes, which are known to swipe newborn lambs.

Alpacas are South American camelids, originally discovered in the Andes mountains.

Today, alpacas are exported all around the world and they have been domesticated for thousands of years. Although they are known as friendly and curious creatures, they will spit if unhappy.

Last year, a farmer in Cape Town, South Africa took a different approach to protecting his livestock. In an attempt to stop animal thieves, he equipped his sheep with cell phones. When the sheep were disturbed they ran, which would set off the phones and automatically call their owner.
