Bethesda may be preparing The Elder Scrolls for next-generation consoles, Level-5 confirms involvement with PlayStation 4, and President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios proclaims desire for creativity with PlayStation 4’s software library, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!
Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. Pete Hines, Vice President of Bethesda Softworks, has released a statement regarding Bethesda’s plans for 2013: "I think you'll hear us making considerably more noise this year than we did last year, as a publisher," continuing on, Hines said “Obviously the Elder Scrolls Online is out and we've got the Dishonored DLC, but we will be announcing new stuff and making some noise, and I think when we get the chance to show you guys what we're up to, that you'll sit up and take notice." Owning the license to three of the largest video game licenses, Doom, The Elder Scrolls, and Fallout, Bethesda has a variety of different routes they could go with for next-generation consoles, but as I am sure every fan of The Elder Scrolls franchise would agree, the idea of running an all-new The Elder Scrolls experience on the powerful hardware being supplied with Sony and Microsoft’s next consoles seems incredible. With the success of Skyrim, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bethesda offer a sequel, but stay tuned to E3 2013 as I am sure Bethesda has plans to make their splash around that time.
Continuing on next-generation releases, Akihiro Hino, CEO of Level-5, the team behind Dark Cloud, White Knight Chronicles, and many more releases, has confirmed that Level-5 is currently working on a new PlayStation 4 game and will be sharing new details soon. Aligning with the confirmation, Hino commented on the PlayStation 4 with “I think the PS4 has strong online network supporting it. So, it’s not only about specs and graphics performance, but also how we can use the communication features of the network if need arises.” Can we expect an all-new role-playing experience from Level-5, or will we see a sequel or even prequel? Only time will tell, but hearing such a talented team’s current involvement in the PlayStation 4 is certainly exciting.
Wrapping up Nick’s Gaming View, President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, stated “we hate to see all the PS4 games being FPS or action-adventure or very photorealistic” Admitting the unveiling of Knack to be intentional as a way of displaying diversity in the PlayStation 4’s lineup, its comforting to hear one of Sony’s very own executives step up and make it known that a diverse library for the PlayStation 4 is Sony’s best intention.
