The Tokyo Electric Power Company is investigating a possible new leak at its crippled Fukushima Daiichi Power Plant on Japan's east coast.

At an emergency news conference Tuesday, Tepco spokesman said a storage pool may be leaking radioactive water.

The suspected leak is at a storage pool where contaminated water from another leaking pit was being transferred.

Around 120,000 gallons of water were contaminated over the weekend.

According to the company, the storage pool did not have enough space for the contaminated water, but said it was working to build studier tanks.

A tsunami crashed into the power plant north of Tokyo in 2011, causing fuel-rod meltdowns at three reactors, radioactive contamination of air, sea and food and triggering the evacuation of 160,000 people.
