Egyptian police fire tear gas into cathedral to break up clashes

It didn't take long for a funeral for four Christians killed in clashes with Muslims outside of Cairo, to turn violent.

Tensions were high outside the church with mourners chanting --- "The blood of Christians isn't cheap. Down with the villain Mursi" -- a reference to President Mohammed Mursi, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.

SOUNDBITE: Muslim, Ahmed Mahmoud saying (Arabic):

"They were chanting slogans which provoked the Muslims. They were insulting each other and then the clashes started. They started pelting each other with stones. Then the Christians started a fire and shot us with rubber bullets. Many people were injured and then the police arrived."

Riot forces fired tear gas into Cairo's main Coptic church to break up crowds .

Some continued to hurl stones even as police moved in. One person was killed and as many as 84 were injured in this second day of clashes between the country's Coptic Christians and Muslims.
