French authorities are investigating death threats made against Jean Michel Gentil, a judge who put former president Nicolas Sarkozy under formal investigation last week.

Sarkozy is being investigated for allegedly exploiting the frailty of France's richest woman Liliane Bettencourt, 90, to raise election funds. He denies the allegations.
