The 24-9 La Salle Explorers from the A10 conference will meet the 28-8 Wichita St Shockers from the Missouri Valley conference in a Sweet Sixteen NCAA Tournament college basketball game on Thursday night. The college basketball odds from this NCAA Tournament game has the Wichita St Shockers favored by -4 points with an over under line of 134 ½ points. The teams met way back in the 2003-2004 season with the Shockers posting the 74-71 home victory as a +2 ½ point underdog.

La Salle began their NCAA Tournament with a First Four victory by nine points against Boise St as a +1 ½ point underdog. Two days later in the Round of 32 the Explorers got past Kansas St 63-61 as a +6 point underdog. They qualified for the Sweet 16 after a 76-74 victory against the Mississippi Rebels on Sunday as a +4 point underdog. The game finished over 142 points. The Explorers enjoyed a 49.1% shooting game and converted on 9 of 23 from the three point line. They give up 47.6% from the field to Ole Miss and only 4 of 19 came from beyond the arc. La Salle pulls down eight less rebounds than the Rebels and won because Mississippi gave away the game missing 11 of 21 free throw attempts. Ramon Galloway led the charge for the Explorers with 24 points and four rebounds as he made 8 of his 13 shots. La Salle ranks in the upper third of college basketball in all four key offensive categories. They are a bottom third team in defending the basket as the team surrenders 45.6% shooting to their opponents this season.
The Wichita St Shockers began the NCAA Tournament in the second round with a 73-55 upset victory against the Pittsburgh Panthers as a +4 point underdog. In the Round of 32 the Shockers upset the top seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs 76-70 as a +6 ½ point underdog on Saturday. The game finished over 130 ½ points. The Shockers enjoyed a 50% shooting game and connected on 14 of 28 three pointers. They limited the Bulldogs to just 35.6% shooting along with 8 from 23 at three point distance. Good shooting for Wichita made up for a -9 rebounding differential the Shockers had in this win. Ron Baker off the bench for the Shockers had 16 points and six rebounds on 5 of 7 from the field. A good defensive team has a shot every game with parity in college basketball. The team ranks in the upper quartile of college basketball in scoring defense and defensive field goal percentage. The Shockers give up 60.8 points along with 39.7% shooting to their opponents.
