A harsh springtime snow storm is barreling through the midwestern U.S.

Parts of Missouri received more than 6 inches of snow as residents did their best to dig out from under it.

Flight after flight at Lambert International Airport in St. Louis was canceled forcing travelers to make other arrangements.

The National Weather Service says the storm is part of the same system that blanketed parts of Colorado last week and while it is headed towards the nation's capital, warm temps in Washington DC will likely prevent any real accumulation.
