On Monday, they marked the two-year anniversary of the Syrian uprising, which began on March 15, 2011.
The U.N. estimates that 70,000 Syrians have died in the conflict.
Around a million more have fled to camps like these in neighbouring countries, hoping with each day that Bashar al-Assad's government will be defeated.
(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) SYRIAN REFUGEE AMIR NASR SAYING:
"We are commemorating the beginning of the revolution, where we went out peacefully and asked for freedom. This led dictator Bashar al-Assad to respond by killing -- killing children and the Syrian people. And so we started calling for the fall of Bashar and he will fall."
What started off as peaceful protests has now turned into a bloody civil war.
Assad is blaming the ongoing violence on outside influences and has defied calls from the international community to step down.
