Cow dung is used as an air freshener.

When we think air fresheners - flowers and fruits usually come to mind.

Two Indonesian high school students tried something different.

They decided to make a canister of air freshener from cow manure.

The young ladies crafted the new, seemingly bizarre concoction for a science project and their unconventional idea paid off. The environmentally-friendly concept won the first prize.

They will now move on to the International Environment Project Olympiad race in Istanbul. The cow dung freshener is said to mimic the scent of herbs and is better for human health as no harmful chemicals are used to make it.

Apparently, the process was simple – cow dung was collected from a farm and left to ferment for several days. Water was then extracted from the manure and blended with coconut water.

What do you think? Would you like to try the cow manure air freshener? What's the strangest air freshener you've come across?
