Customers to receive Valve’s Steam Box prototypes, Microsoft discounts Valve as a competitor, and the voice of Metal Gear’s Snake causes buzz on Twitter, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!

Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. Gabe Newell, co-founder of Valve, has spiked excitement for those interested in Valve’s upcoming hardware, currently named Steam Box, with a recent statement regarding prototype units: “We're working with partners trying to nail down exactly how fast we can make it,” Newell continued with more concrete information by announcing “We're also working hard on the input side to try to take a step forward in terms of the kinds of games you can play. So very much on the development side, and we'll be giving out some prototypes to customers to get their reactions, I guess, in the next three to four months." Could Valve’s upcoming hardware really take off and become as successful as their Steam platform?

Not in the eyes of Microsoft according to Don Mattrick, President of the Interactive Entertainment Business. With hype building for the next Xbox and Valve seeking profits in the hardware business, Mattrick has released the following statement “The scale of products and things that are being brought to market are probably a little bit richer when I look at Sony, Nintendo, Apple, and Google,” Sure it will be a difficult feat for Valve, but looking at the success of their Steam platform, I wouldn’t let their ongoing project go unnoticed.

Wrapping up Nick’s Gaming View, David Hayter, the voice behind Snake of the Metal Gear series, has recently created buzz on Twitter with an interesting tweet regarding his involvement in the next Metal Gear. With the upcoming Metal Gear well underway, Hayter tweeted out a poll asking “How would you react if I didn't play Snake in the next Metal Gear?” After just six hours and six minutes later, Hayter tweeted the results to the poll revealing “Sad/Agry: 64% No Big Deal: 12% (You’re all dead to me, btw.) Would not buy: 24% 303 ppl srveyd” Such poll has raised question as to whether Snake will feature another voice actor, but considering the mood of the tweet by Hayter revealing the results, I feel there is a good chance Hayter is back at it again.
