A study reveals that 1 in 4 people make bizarre midnight snack concoctions.

According to new research findings, published in the International Journal of Eating Disorders, one in four people snack on bizarre food choices in the middle of the night.

Scientists asked 507 participants to take part in a “concocting survey” which inquired about their eating patterns and the types of foods that are normally consumed to satisfy cravings. 25% of the survey takers admitted to eating crazy food combinations, like sugar covered scrabbled eggs.

The study author states “We were curious on how common concocting actually was. And to differentiate it from regular snacking, we defined it as making strange food mixtures that you would be too embarrassed or ashamed to share with others.”

Last year, another study from the University of Pennsylvania concluded that eating late disrupts the body’s internal clock, causing an increase in weight. Some mice were genetically altered to eat during normal sleep periods, while others were left untouched.

The two sets of mice ate the same amount of calories, but the midnight snackers gained weight.
