A woman is injured after a bullet left inside of an oven explodes.
Even bullets separated from a firearm can be dangerous. An 18-year-old St. Petersburg woman was injured and hospitalized after ammunition exploded inside an oven.
She had preheated the stove to make some waffles, completely unaware that her male friend had placed a magazine from his .45-caliber gun inside of the oven.
A short time later, there was an explosion leaving bullet fragments on the woman’s chest and leg. Thankfully her injuries were not life threatening, but it's not clear why her acquaintance put the rounds in the stove.
Thus far, no arrests have been made. The gun and ammunition owner does have a legal permit to carry a concealed weapon.
Last year, a Pennsylvania woman had been shopping at Lowe's, when a bullet residing in her purse exploded. The gun was nowhere to be found and she stated she had no clue the bullets were in her handbag.
It was believed that something disrupted the primer on the bullet, causing the shell casing to burn a hole through the woman's bag and leave a small injury on her leg.
