Former fashionista favourite John Galliano has caused controversy once again. The former Christian Dior creative director fell from grace nearly two years ago after being filmed making anti-semitic remarks in a Parisian cafe.

Now, according to the New York Post, he's angered the Jewish community once again by donning a black hat and Hasidic curls, which they believe to be a sign of disrespect for the Jewish faith.

But while the newspaper branded the designer a 'Shmuck', members of the fashion community have been quick to defend the disgraced designer.

Jade Hobson, Fashion Editor at Large, Town and Country Magazine: "I mean that's his pirate outfit. That's John Galliano, that's the way he looks. It has nothing to do with Hasidic Jews as far as he's concerned I'm sure. I just can't imagine."

Fern Mallis, New York Fashion Week Creator: "That's what he's been wearing for the last several weeks that he's been in New York. That hat he's worn for years and you know, he has been wearing his hair curly. And that it was by no means meant to insult anybody and that's not… But clearly that's a New York Post cover and twist for you."

Galliano's spokeswoman has hit back branding the report "totally inaccurate" and stating he is committed to making amends for his scandalous behaviour.
