Neo Fiction -
In exploring the relations between abstraction and narration, and the transformation of stage and collaborative practices, Christian Rizzo invites Sophie Laly to collaborate on a project called néo-fiction, born of a desire to unite film, scenography, light, and music, in a closed space at the theatrical portal. This combination is to be understood as a performance installation where the dramaturgy bursts forth at many points, but the central point remains the film and the main character the scenery. The images are shot near Seattle, between the ocean and the mountains. The combination is augmented by a display of objects and signs (found, constructed, or invented) as well as a spotlight. The work interrogates the concept of physical presence through its disappearance and/or dispersion in an outwardly “natural” space, in parallel with the closed location of representation. The live performance of Lille musical guest Cercueil, completes this neo-fiction.
