Czarist Russia is in vogue at this year’s fashion week and Tadashi Shoji is certainly leading the trend. Inspired by the collapse of the Romanov dynasty, his fall 2013 collection is a blend of the royal and the common.
In keeping with the splendor of Romanov thrown the collection was filled with rich silks, cut velvets, precious gems, layers of tulle, and heavily embroidered lace.
Shoji also wowed the crowd with voluminous shapes and trapeze silhouettes in hues of sapphire, burgundy, carmine red and blush tones.
The sunny-faced fashion designer is an annual red carpet favorite, but with the Oscars just weeks away the he was hush hush about who might show up wearing a Shoji original.
