Amateur footage appears to show Syrian rebels celebrating the capture of a strategic air base in northern Syria.

Taftanaz is the largest helicopter base in northern Syria and the second largest in the country and its loss further weakens President Bashar al-Assad's grip on the region.

The months-long battle only ended after Islamist units provided reinforcement in early January.
