As concerns grow over the Venezuelan president's health, the National Assembly has elected its leader.
Diosdado Cabello could be in line to step in as the caretaker president, if Hugo Chavez does not recover from his cancer surgery. The government says for now it has no plans for that to happen.
The vote comes just days before Chavez's inauguration, although the vice president says he can be sworn in for another term at a later date.
