A woman is struck by a stray bullet from an assault rifle.

A 67-year-old St. Petersburg woman was recently watching fireworks on New Year’s Eve when something unimaginable happened. The lady, Laurie Eberhardt had been innocently leaning on the balcony at a yacht club when an object struck her wrist.

It turned out that she had been hit by a falling bullet. Although hospital officials were able to pull it out, police claimed that it looked like a bullet from an AK-47 assault rifle.

Eberhardt survived the incident and is expected to make a full recovery, but the terrifying occurrence has rattled her.

Police officials are investigating where the shot originated from.

Last year, a Clearwater man was struck by a falling bullet during July 4th festivities.

The 74-year-old man had been watching the fireworks show when the bullet struck his face. The bullet went through the bridge of his nose, out of his nostril and through his lip before exiting through his chin. He received stitches at the hospital and was later released.
