A pizza delivery driver is demoted following a self defense act.
A Maryland man, Sam Swicegood was recently demoted from his delivery job at Pizza Hut for a bizarre reason.
According to Swicegood, he had been attacked by a group of people while doing deliveries. He claimed that he had been sucker punched, so he shielded his face and brandished a small baton-like weapon that he possessed.
Swicegood stated that he believed he was going to die, hence the reason for defending himself, but Pizza Hut punished him. The pizza chain cut his hours and reduced his pay following the incident citing that he violated the company’s weapons policy.
Earlier this year, another man lost his job after doing a good deed.
A lifeguard in Florida was fired after leaving his designated lifeguard zone to rescue a drowning man who was 15 hundred feet away. 21 year old Tomas Lopez ran to save the man who was swimming in unprotected waters. Lopez stated "Honestly, a job is not as important as a person's life”.
