An artist creates kitchen accessories using human biology as an inspiration.
A talented artist, Christine Chin is changing the somewhat typical appearance of kitchen accessories with her new line dubbed ‘Sentient Kitchen’.
The kitchen pieces can be described as slightly bizarre. One of her pieces, called the ‘Nostril Mill’ shows a typical silver lid but underneath that cover are several nostrils with hair protruding from them.
According to the description, 3 ounces of whole peppercorns are stored in the sinus cavity. Another one of Chin’s works is a pitcher.
Dubbed, ‘Milk Jug’ the body of the pitcher is covered in nipples. One nipple is even shown lactating. The milks droplet can be seen descending down the outside of the pitcher.
There are also ‘Tasting Spoons’ in the collection. While the handle is mostly generic, the spoon itself depicts a human tongue.
Chin states “ Sentient Kitchen takes inspiration from some of nature’s most ingenious engineering. What better way to dispense salt than through an organ that is highly developed to taste, and why not take advantage of the mammary gland’s unique relationship to milk?”
