Chinese state media reported the successful launching of Turkey's GK-2 (Gokturk-2) earth observation satellite into orbit early Wednesday (December 19) from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in China's northwestern Gansu province.
It is the 28th successful space launch this year for China according to Chinese state television CCTV.
China's space programme often includes services for an increasing number of foreign clients, such as last month's launch of a Sri Lankan satellite.
Turkey contracted the launch of its Gokturk-2 satellite to China's Great Wall Industries in May of 2011, CCTV said.
