Second World War hero, 88-year-old Arnold Meri, is accused of involvement in the post-war deportation of Estonian nationals. Meri admits he took part in the deportation, but says he never violated any Soviet law back in 1949. What's the point in trying a veteran in his eighties, who's suffering from cancer, for something he did as a young communist 60 years ago? To talk about it, we have invited to our studio guests with opposite points of view: Mikhail Demurin, retired diplomat and Baltic States expert, and historian Ilya Adzhiashvili.
