Air travelers bound for the US face increased scrutiny

Following the Christmas Day attempted bombing of a
Northwest Airlines flight, the US government has put into place new
criteria for random scanning of passengers on US-bound flights.
Nationals of 14 countries will be subjected to enhanced mandatory
screening and citizens of other "countries of interest" will also face
additional procedures. But questions remain about whether the new
invasive technology will violate civil rights or result in racial
profiling.
