STORY: Planes struggled to land in Bilbao on Friday (December 14) as pilots fight against high winds.

The dramatic gusts have forced to divert two planes coming from Madrid and Valencia to Santander.

The strong winds caused the planes to sway as they attempted to land in Bilbao's Loiu airport.

Although Spain airport operator AENA said that no flights scheduled to depart from Bilbao were canceled, the extreme winds tested the skills of the pilots trying to take off.

Spanish carrier Iberia said that one of their planes had to return to Madrid's Barajas airport where the company relocated the passengers in a bigger Airbus 321.
