Wanted in Belize for questioning over his neighbour's murder, millionaire software guru John McAfee hopes now to return to the US.
McAfee fled here to Guatemala, where authorities arrested him for illegally entering the country last week and rejected his asylum request.
The 67-year-old blogged while in hiding and said online Sunday that returning to the U.S. is his only hope.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE GURU, JOHN MCAFEE, SAYING:
"It is clear, in the last few weeks since I started my blog, that I cannot ever return to Belize. My blog, the issues that I am discussing, are hurting the government, they are hurting tourism, tourism accounts for over 70% of all the employment in Belize. The government was mad at me before; they're seriously mad at me now. There is no hope for my life if I am ever returning to Belize."
He had been living in Belize for four years and now says he fears authorities would kill him if he returns there.
Belize's prime minister has called the anti-virus software entrepreneur paranoid and "bonkers".
His lawyers have filed several appeals to block his deportation to Belize and are waiting for a higher judge to review his case.
