ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: Prince William attended a charity event in aid of the homeless on Saturday (December 8), his first public engagement since it was announced he is to become a father.
The Duke of Cambridge was due to attend the Winter Whites Gala with the Duchess. But Kate is resting after three days of treatment for a severe form of morning sickness earlier this week.
As he talked to guests at London's Royal Albert Hall, the Duke was congratulated by many on the news that a baby is on the way.
Looking smart in black tie, William chatted with former players, sponsors and donors to the charity at a drinks reception while he also spoke to young people who have been helped by Centrepoint.
William will later present an award to tennis ace, Novak Djokovic, in recognition of the world number one's humanitarian foundation which helps children living in disadvantaged communities to engage in creative play activities.
