A drug courier loses money and allegedly asks police to help him.
If you’re involved in any illegal activity, it’s probably not a good idea to call police for help sort your problems.
Nevertheless, that didn’t stop a North Carolina man from calling the cops after he lost $20,000 in drug money at a location in Tucson.
The incident occurred last month when the 30-year-old courier had left a meeting with drug dealers after delivering some cash. About an hour later, he received a threatening call from his contacts, informing him that there was $20,000 missing.
Fearing that he would be killed for losing the money, he thought police could help him out, by writing a false receipt explaining that the cash had been seized.
Officers arrested him on suspicion of money laundering and racketeering. When they searched through his belongings, they found $17,000 in a pair of pants and another $3,000 in his wallet.
This isn’t the first illegal drug blunder. Earlier this year, a California man accidentally sent a police officer several text messages trying to sell him methamphetamine.
Playing along as a customer, the officer arranged to meet with the drug dealer and arrested him.
