A woman in Stanley, England gave birth after going to the hospital for back pain.

The 24 year old mother didn’t even know she was pregnant until doctors confirmed that she was actually in labor.

She gave birth six hours after getting to the hospital.

The woman told the Evening Chronicle “I had periods throughout the pregnancy and in February was sick a couple of times so did a pregnancy test and it came back negative. There were just no further symptoms.”

It is believed that the baby was approximately five weeks overdue, and has been diagnosed with Flat Head Syndrome, which causes her head to be misshapen.

Treatments to correct the infant’s condition are costly, and family and friends have started fundraising to help with the additional expenses.

In a similar case, a British soldier serving in Afghanistan discovered she was pregnant when she went into labor.

The woman gave birth at a NATO military base that had been attacked by Taliban forces just days earlier.

A spokesperson from the Ministry of Defense said that they do not deploy women who are pregnant.
