For days now, they have been strongly fighting the proposal of a vote on FDI in multi-brand retail on the floor of the House. Even with the numbers stacked in favour of the UPA, the minority government chose to dismiss the opposition's demand. Even its own ally, the DMK, kept the government on tenterhooks. But today (November 27), camp UPA breathed a collective sigh of relief with the DMK showing a green flag to FDI in multi-brand retail. The ongoing stalemate may finally end next week, with sources indicating that a vote on FDI might take place soon.

In a debate moderated by TIMES NOW's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami, panelists -- P C Chacko, MP Lok Sabha, Congress; Sitaram Yechury, Politburo member & MP, Rajya Sabha, CPI(M) and Venkaiah Naidu, Senior leader & MP, Rajya Sabha, BJP -- discuss if the government wasted four days of the Parliament while waiting for allies like the DMK to come on board.
