Around ten thousand people have fled Myanmar after the country's first general election in twenty years. Officials say they've escaped to neighbouring Thailand. Several people have been killed in clashes between rebels and government troops near the border. Allies of the ruling military are expected to win in the election, which Western countries have dismissed as 'neither free nor fair' with turnout as low as 30 percent after an opposition boycott.
