New Communist Party head Xi Jinping has again warned corruption could cause the collapse of the ruling party if it's allowed to continue unchecked. Xi spoke on the weekend to the newly announced 25-member Politburo, state-run Xinhua News Agecny reported on Monday.

Despite highlighting the dangers of corruption, Xi did not explain how the communist regime will address the problem.

Xi acknowledged the wave of high profile graft cases involving senior communist officials, calling corruption, quote, "worms breeding in decaying matter."

Ahead of last week's power transition, the Communist Party was gripped by the scandal of disgraced official Bo Xilai. He's being investigated for corruption and abuse of power. His wife Gu Kalai received a suspended death sentence for murdering British businessman Neil Heywood.

During the weekend meeting, Xi Jinping also said staff and family members of corrupt officials need to be held accountable.
