Egypt's Orthodox church anoints a new head.

Coptic leaders ordain Pope Tawadros II in a Cairo Cathedral on Sunday.

The 60-year-old takes the helm of the minority community as a new, Islamist-dominated government solidifies its hold on power.

The ceremony comes as Egypt's churches withdraw from the body drafting the country's new constitution.

They say it violates their rights.

President Mohamed Mursi did not attend the ceremony, sending his prime minister instead, disappointing many Christians.

Tawadros is the 118th leader of the church, replacing the popular Pope Shenouda who died in March.
