Sick and tired of facing the cold and the dark residents protest outside the Long Island Power Authority in New York.

Almost two weeks after Superstorm Sandy hit the East Coast, more than 170,000 are still without power on Long Island.

Boats are scattered throughout neighborhoods.

Mountains of debris have been left behind by the storm.

Volunteers knock on doors to check on residents and offer help.

The U.S. Marines are on duty. Marine Captain Lucas Burke describes the scene.

SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. MARINE CORPS CAPTAIN LUCAS BURKE, SAYING:

"It's bad. It's overwhelming actually. But what I have seen as well, is the community coming together, and their coming together as one team. So, when we had Marines here, it was just really easy for us to relate because we are all about teamwork, and we are basically just joining their team."

At least 120 people were killed by the storm which has caused an estimated 50 billion dollars in damage.
