A nun is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from churches.

67-year-old, Sister Mary Anne Rapp has been accused of stealing $128,000 over the course of several years from two churches in Orleans County, New York. She has been charged with grand larceny.

She pleaded not guilty However if convicted, there is a likelihood that prison time will be involved. According to Rapp’s attorney, she was battling a gambling problem and used the funds from the churches to pay for her trips.

Rapp was placed on administrative leave in early 2011 to receive counseling for her gambling addiction. She reportedly spent more than 9 months in a program and has maintained her recovery since then.

Earlier this year, another nun was in some serious trouble. The 80-year-old Spanish nun, called Sister Maria was accused of stealing a newborn baby from a hospital in Madrid in 1982.

The mother of the infant was recently reunited with her long lost 30-year-old daughter, but she accused Sister Maria of taking the baby shortly after the birth. The nun allegedly threatened the mother when she asked questions regarding her missing child.
