Budget car rental is reportedly overcharging customers during returns in British Columbia, Canada

The car rental company Budget is being lambasted over customer complaints that they are being over charged for minor damage to the rental cars.

According to a CBS report, the customers say the damage to the vehicles was preexisting, or just a normal amount of wear and tear. But they were charged hundreds of dollars nonetheless, in many cases after cars are returned

There have been 70 complaints to the Better Business Bureau about multiple Budget car rental location in British Columbia.

CBC notes that the owner of several of the Budget branches also owns the company that does the car repairs, and in another twist, the inspector of the vehicles listed on documents as an independent damage appraiser is also working for Budget.

In another lawsuit against a car rental company, Dollar Rent a Car is being taken to court over charging customers for an insurance fee, even though they claim that they declined the service when it was offered to them.

One man got copies of the rental forms, which showed that his signature had been forged.
