Me playing the organ at St Catherine of Siena in the Woodthorpe area of Sheffield, South Yorkshire.
The organ was built and installed at the church in the early 1960s by the John Compton Organ Company Ltd. Compton enthusiasts will see that the console design mirrors that of the model 357 electrone instruments which Compton were producing at this time differing greatly from those built just a couple of years previous. The organ is essentially the Compton 3 rank 'Miniatura' model. The pipework is installed at the rear of the church on a plinth over the entrance with the console also at the rear of the church. The church boasts fantastic acoustics as will be heard in the hymn 'As I kneel before you' which starts off with the Gemshorn rank being heard in the first verse before the chorus which makes use of full organ.
