A shelter mistakenly euthanizes a man's dog.

It can be described as a pet owners’ worst nightmare… discovering that their beloved animal has unexpectedly died. A college student in Chattanooga, Matt Sadler waited 10 days to pick his dog up from an animal shelter, but when he arrived he was told his beloved pet has been mistakenly euthanized.

The 3-year-old lab-mix, named Zion was quarantined after a minor incident, where the dog jumped on a pizza delivery worker. The law has a 10-day quarantine period and since Zion was slightly past due for his rabies vaccine, he was required to stay at the shelter for the full week and a half.

Due to an administrative filing error , Zion was instead put down. Shelter employees have sincerely apologized for the isolated incident.

Recently a family from Massachusetts went through a similar ordeal. Colleen Conlon scheduled a bathing appointment for her cat named Lady.

Conlon's son brought Lady in and filled out some basic paperwork before leaving. When he returned to the office, he was shocked to learn that the cat had mistakenly been euthanized.
