New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) released video on Tuesday (October 30) showing a flooded subway station in downtown New York.

The video shows MTA workers surveying the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy inside the South Ferry-Whitehall Street station in the south Manhattan neighbourhood of Battery Park.

The video shows high water covering the stairways, escalators, and extensive damage in the station, with debris floating around.

South Ferry-Whitehall St. is not the only part of the subway network damaged by Sandy's floodwaters. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said all 10 of the tunnels that carry New Yorkers under the East River were flooded.
