Rtd General VK Singh courted controversy on countless occasions as the Chief of the Indian Army by taking his detractors head on. On Monday (October 29), the former Army Chief joined forces with social activist Anna Hazare and launched an unexpected stinging attack on the UPA government. Singh has demanded the dissolution of the Parliament and immediate elections. He also attacked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his government bending to corporate interests and said that the slew of policies that have been cleared, have been done by a minority government. The General's comment has sparked a massive political storm, with the BJP also jumping into the fray, mounting an offensive on the UPA. Even as the UPA has dismissed the call, the government has been clearly shaken by the dual attack by the anti-corruption crusader and the former Chief.
