Different Types of Tea - Which do you Prefer?
There are many different types of tea and each one has a unique taste depending on several factors – such as where the tea originates, the time of year it is picked, or how it is processed.
Among the types that are most popular are white, green, black and herbal teas. The white, green, and black teas are known for their antioxidant properties. There are also blends of tea that contain more than one type. Many people choose blended tea for its distinctive taste.
Tea has long been known as healthy. Many varieties contain several vitamins and essential minerals. Herbal tea is soothing. Although this type does not generally have caffeine, it does have Vitamin C. Many people prefer tea over coffee and find that it provides the same mental alertness that coffee drinkers experience. Black tea is said to have the most caffeine and it is one to which spices are often added to provide an exceptional taste.
Green tea is a popular drink because it provides numerous health benefits. Many people choose this type of tea because of the reduction in the risk of heart disease that has been attributed to drinking green tea.
Sharing a cup of tea with visitors or at the office is enjoyed every day by friends and strangers alike. Tea drinkers will tell you that this is a drink that not only warms but soothes you, depending on the type.
Although it is not a widely known fact, true tea is made from only one type of plant – the camellia sinensis. Other types of tea, such as herbal are made from the flowers or leaves of other plants. The processing is what distinguishes the type of tea made from the camellia sinensis plant – white, black, green or oolong tea. Each of these types can have items added that change the taste. These are also the types that are used for blended tea.
Whether your favorite is served cold or hot, tea is second only to water when it comes to a favorite beverage.
