A giant snake is discovered roaming the grounds of the Key West International Airport.
Not many people are fond of snakes.
Recently some people were surprised after a giant snake was spotted at Key West International Airport. At approximately 10-feet long, officials found the serpent close to the airport’s commercial ramp, moving through the grass.
Monroe County officials were able to secure the snake and it was handed over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. While authorities did not officially release what kind of snake it was, many believe it is a python which was probably abandoned as an unwanted pet.
South Florida has encountered an increase in large snake sightings.
Late this summer, a python, measuring 9 feet, 4 inches was found near a mile marker in Key Largo.
The Florida Keys are patrolled with officials searching for giant snakes, particularly pythons. Approximately a dozen have been captured in the area in the last 5 years. An official stated “If a snake is bigger than you are, there's a real good chance it's a nonnative. We want to know about it.”
